I cannot explain why, but I had this urge to create a Spanish bull in all its Majesty in the pasture as he should be. Here are the three stages for this painting. Above on the upper left you can see the black and white reference photo. I was not sure what was going to happen when I started this piece. I painted a light wash of acrylic of olive green and burn umber to the back ground, which you cannot even see unless I pointed it out. Then I stated using charcoal and found the basic shape that I liked. I had some colored charcoal around and laid down some color very quickly. I liked the feeling, so I kept doing that.
At this stage I can see that some of the anatomy was off, like the horn so I corrected it and added some details
A good friend noticed my bull was missing an important part of his male anatomy so I added it and put some more color all around. I really enjoyed making this painting and I how you like it too.
